Disclosure without tears.
The Criminal Procedure and Investigation Act 1996 (CPIA) requires the police to provide a detailed description of unused material to the prosecution, and in some circumstances, to provide access to and copies of material to the defence.
Meeting the requirements for disclosure, even in a relatively small investigation, can be difficult and time-consuming. Assessing documentation, producing schedules, copying documents, revealing material to the defence….the list is a long one.
Both Altia Insight and Digital Manager provide rapid access to a copy of the original documentation, making it easier for a disclosure officer to review material against descriptions. These two software tools also minimise the time spent supervising defence access, by allowing easy access to material onscreen, slashing the long hours spent retrieving paper copies.
Altia Insight goes much further. Its built-in disclosure module permits rapid production of disclosure schedules in the standard format, complete with hyperlinks to a copy of the document listed. The whole package can be created and cut to a CD in minutes, saving hours, and, in some cases, days of valuable investigation time.
